Trying to figure out how to remotely activate and deactivate EC500.

For example, I can turn on ec500 from my phone for anyone using 730/731 for activate/deactivate. But, how do I accomplish this if I am not in the office?

Mike,

1.Make sure you have you telecommuting access number set up first. CHA TELE

2.Find your Enhanced EC500 Activation code DISP FEAT.
mine is *32 to activate #32 to deactivate.

3.Assign a security code in the CHA STATION form.

4.Call the telecommuting number, enter the fac, station, #, Security code, #. You can use other FAC's like Send All Calls, etc.

I have a speed dial on my cell that looks something like this:

2222,,*32,,3333#,,4444#

2222=telecommuting number
*32= FAC
3333=Station
4444= Station security code
,=pause

Thanks, Mark568B. Worked like a charm. Have a star.

Another way is to create two extensions, preferably DID's and in change off-pbx-telephone feature-name-extensions field, plug in an extension for both Off-PBX Call Enable and Off-PBX Call Disable fields. Once any user configured with EC500 in your system dials the enable number from outside the office, they will be answered by the system and given a conformation tone, Their EC500 is now active. To deactivate, simply dial the other number for Disable and you will get the same tone for conformation.
There is no security code needed.

Thanks, mgraval. Have a star, as well. Your solution is much easier, although it requires having a couple extra DID's sitting around, which I happen to have.

Or...

You could use one DID on the off-station feature form and enable "select idle-appearance". The user can then dial that one number and use the feature access codes as if they were in the office.

I also use this FNE for any users who need to dial internationally from their cell phone. The negotiated International rates from your PBX are normally MUCH cheaper than what an end user will get from a cell provider...and the users love it since they don't have to expense such a huge cell bill.

I'm using the feature like sjforcum describes. If you have 4/5 digit dialing between offices very handy. Our users love it. If you have blackberry's check out the smart dialing feature. It allows users to enter only the extension for people then the phone automatically dials the idle line number waits a couple of seconds then out-pulses the extension. Makes it so easy for users.

I can't get this feature to work, it looks like a good one too. I called the DID from my ec500 equipted cell phone and get a recording from the phone company that the number is not working.
The two extensions I used are in my switch DID range, but I can't make stations out of them and use them for this feature-name at the same time.

What am I doing wrong?

First, you must be certain that they are indeed DID's, that would be the first step. From what you said, it sounds like the numbers you are dialing are not provisioned, or they do not belong to you. Did you try making the numbers in question a VDN or extension, and simply have them ring a phone, to verify they are DID's? Next, make sure the 10 digit cell phone number is in the off-pbx-station-mapping table, and EC500 does indeed work, once you do these couple of things, you should be able to simply dial the FNE (Feature-Name-Extensions) DID number from the EC500 cell phone, and the system will make a match from the ANI of the Cell phone number, tie it to your extension and activate or deactivate the FNE.

I guess it's the definition of DID that has me confused. We have a block of numbers we purchased from Verizon Central Office as a Flex Path, say 88x-1100 to 88x-1599. If I call any one of them, (say un assigned extension 1471) and a station hasn't been built in the switch for that extension, you get a recording or a fast busy, you can't call it. The DID number is activated in the G3si CM3.0 only when I program it as a station x ported or with a port, but them I can't use it as that feature..

On the incoming-call-handling-treatment page for that trunk group, put an entry for that specific number, delete all digits, and insert the extension you want to use for the feature. It should work.

I ended up doing it as you suggested, it works GREAT !

Big hit with all the field crew and for those on the road.

Thanks,

Mike
