hello. i would greatly appreciate anyone's help here..
easy cd creator 4 came with my sony laptop, and i used it for awhile. one day, i decided to try out cd creator 5, but later got rid of it because i thought 4 was better. since then, everytime i try to open version 4, I get a "easy cd creator engine initialization has failed: (could not load CDR4)". I have installed/reinstalled at least 10 times, and it still won't work. I'm thinking this is probably linked to version 5, which i installed but uninstalled. can anyone help me?

Sorry that this is not a solution, but I installed and uninstalled CD Creator 5 as well and now the DVD drive will not work even though I reinstalled 4 and 5 several times. The device manager says that it is disabled and needs a new driver. I researched the problem and found that this happens when ECDC is uninstalled.

If anyone knows how to fix this, I would also appreciate hearing it. I cannot use the DVD/CD Writer until I get this resolved.

TIA,

hmm. I reinstalled version 5 again, and now version 4 works. I guess they're connected somehow now :\. oh well. It wouldn't bother me much, except i'm low on space, but i think custom installing only the cd creator helps.

I guess you have been to the ROXIO site and installed the latest vers ( 4.0.5 ) . I found that Vers 5 Platinum was terrible on Windows 2000.When trying create a music disk, EasyCD said the CD I inserted was not blank ( not the case ). Vers 4.0.5 worked like a dream

EZCD ver5 was created especially for WinXP. There are many, many posts on the web about how many problems are associated with ver5.

This may seem basic, but most modern software does not REALLY uninstall completely. Norton and many other developers make sure that flags are left behind to prevent reinstallation of time-dated software (evaluation copies and such).

The cleanest fix is to format your drive and reinstall everything from the ground up. (if you can)

Or you can try to remove all the fragments from the registry manually. This is a subject that will require a little effort to pick up off the web. But it is out there, cuz like I said EZCD ver5 is a pain in the butt to many many people. Email me! denodave@yahoo.com

Install version 5 Basic again and download the latest patch from roxio. I have no problem with it. Runs like a charm.
