Hey guys - what is the easiest/best way to delete 500+ new voicemails from a user account? This user had voicemail-to-email setup to COPY, but never has erased the messages from the phone. When she clicks on the phone Message button, it of course says "BUSY" for quite some time to bring up all the voicemails. If I clear the mailbox in voicemail pro, then it will wipe out all of her greetings... Is there a better way to go about removing all these "new" messages?

Thanks,

on general principle I would clear the mailbox and make her re-record everything. There needs to be pain involved.

The easiest way for YOU is to tell the user they will have to do it manually themself.
The blister on the finger will probably encourage them not to let it happen again ;-).

Otherwise deleting the Mailbox in the Accounts directory is the way to go - it should not delete the greetings as they are stored in the Greetings directory, if it does for some strange reason then they will simply have to re-record the greetings - refer to my comment about the blister above :)

Do things on the cheap & it will cost you dear

Set housekeeping to delete new messages after X days and warn everybody that if they don't read their messages! Otherwise, if you have it, log her into one-X Portal and delete them all when it finally lists them.

Stuck in a never ending cycle of file copying.

Great - thanks for idea's everyone. I completely forgot about the web voicemail. Having her login to Web Voicemail, and im also going to set housekeeping to remove after so long.

Thanks!

I do as per sizbut, all new messages deleted after 15 days, this gives any who dont have voicemail to email but are on holiday time to get to their messages if they have two weeks off.

Select the mailbox and clear it.

BAZINGA!

I'm not insane, my mother had me tested!

tlpeter, but if you clear the mailbox doesn't that also clear the name announcement and/or greeting?

Don't know but isn't having to redo your greetings a suitable punishment.

No, because it's not punishing the user... it's punishing me as I'm gonna have to be the one to walk them through re-setting up there greetings.

Either way problem solved- had user login through voicemail web gui or One-X portal and remove them there.

So... copy thier greetings and recorded name to a different location and copy them back in after clearing it.

Really, tell the user to go into visual voicemail. Select the first message, then More, then Delete. It will queue up the next message, and just start jamming on the delete button. If it doesn't overrun some kind of buffer, you can hit Delete 100 times in about 20 seconds, so a couple of minutes of button pounding should solve his issue.
