Easier way to route 500 phone

I have an extension 4623 and that DN needs to be routed to two separate phones in two locations. My way of connecting the two phones would be to punchdown from the TN to a keystone and insert an RJ11 splitter in the keystone. Take two twisted pair phone cords with RJ11s connected to the splitter and punch the other end down on each phones respective (tie-wrap)(tie-cable) destination port.

I am open to any and all suggestions that could help me set this up.

Please note, I have general knowledge and experience in my Meridian PBX option 51 but I'm not an expert by any means.

Generally speaking joining the pairs together at the TJF for 500 sets would be fine. I've known it being done in the past on several systems without any problems.

Another way would be to provide two analogue sets with the same DN and wire up one pair to each port as this method would mean that one phone would still work if the other phone was disconnected.

Firebird can you elaborate on the second option you mentioned. What do you mean two analog sets with same DN? I think I am already referring to that in my solution (correct me if I am wrong). Do you mean something like if one is off hook for any reason (except off hook in use) the other one would still be able to call.

Also TJF stands for.......

TJF in the UK means Termination Junction Frame i.e. where the cables from the phone system go to.
The Nortel systems can be configured to allow the same extension number to appear on more than one TN for 500 and digital phones. The only issue here is that the MARP for call forwarding etc can only exist on on TN.

Okay, I see what you mean. However, If I use the DN 4623 on a TN in my meridian I no longer am able to add that DN to another TN. It's not available when I go in LD 20 and run LUDN. Can you please explain how this is completed on Meridian option 51 for a 500 set.

This will be a basic 500 set with no options on it such as call forwarding, so the MARP isn't as important in this situation. I will MARP to the most important set of the two.

As DN 4623 already exists, just find the TN number in LD 20 by doing e.g.

REQ: PRT
TYPE DNB
CUST

DN 4623
Press return a few times until you see the TN details. Then use the e.g.

REQ: CPY1
TYPE 500
TN XXX X XX XX
TOTN XXX X XX XX (A spare TN that you know exists)
DN XXXX (Use any spare DN that works i.e. 1820 etc

Once the TN has been built, do e.g.

REQ: CHG
TYPE 500
TN XXX X XX XX
ECHG YES
ITEM DN 4623
MARP (Press return until you get back to REQ

Finally repeat..

REQ: PRT
TYPE DNB
CUST

DN 4623
Press return a few times until you see the TN details.

You should hopefully see two TN with the same DN 4623 to connect onto.

Okay, I will try that as it seems much easier than my approach and cheaper for the company. I just wasn't aware that you could use the DN twice. All the times I tried before my PBX would SCH error out when trying to reuse a DN.

Thanks and I will update my progress. If I stay in this position long enough, I may be an expert in the PBX after about 20 years. LOL.

It worked and i am pleased to have learned something else on the old PBX. They are much different than my normal IP phone experience.
