Is there any easier way to redirect a domain instead of creating a site and redirected the physical address to another site?

The only thing I've been able to do is copy the A record for one domain to another and copy all the CNAME records. That works except that it still shows that domain name in the browser instead of the domain I want to redirect it to.
If that makes any sense...

Hi!

what exactly you wants to do? to redirect a web site you can use IIS configure a web site and us the option in home directory a redirection to a URL.

hope this will help. iis_guru@yahoo.com

Well, creating a site under IIS and then redirected seemed like too much work for what I wanted to do. That is how I'm doing it now but it definetly takes out a chunck of my time. Also, with logging, it gets a little tricky but that's a whole other problem.

I was wondering if there was some way to do something with the original IIS entry to also pick up a different host header name. (etc, awesomewebsite.com, all redirecting to something like that... I want a bunch of domains I have to physically redirect to a particular domain without using javascript or creating a seperate site under IIS to redirect.
Hope that's a better hint to my problem.

yes you can use the redirection option in site properties->home drirectory for this u need to register all domain names you want.

hope this will help you. iis_guru@yahoo.com

Is there any easier way to do redirection than to create a whole new site to redirect?

there is another way but not easy that is use java script for redirection. iis_guru@yahoo.com

The IIS option is definetly better than using Javascript. =P
Thanks for your help

There is an easier way than any pointed out above.

It is a 2 step process:
1. Create a multiple Domains, A Records & Cnames etc in your DNS server and point it all to the same IP.

2. Create the Website in IIS as you would normally do. Then go to properties (Alt+A & R), In the General Tab Click on Advanced (Alt+d). Under Host Headers add the New headers. (Alt+A) Type IP address : Tab : Type the Port No (80) : Tab : Type the New host header (teh New Domains. A record & Cnames)

Hope this Helps!
This is the time of a new beginning. Civilization as we know it is comming to an end.
