I am currently using Arcserve 2000 Advanced Edition (Build 1050) and MS Exchange 5.5.

I am receiving two types of E8602 errors when backing up the brick level (418) Application run out of memory and (402) Exchange System Errors.

Would disabling the Groupshield services fix these E8602 Errors ?

In terms of Service Packs to apply could I use SP3 for Arcserve 2000 if I am using Exchange 5.5. Is Q06202 only for Exchange 2000 ? According to CAI I need SP3 before I install QO6202 and LO85115 is for Exchange 2000.

Is build 1086 with SP3 installed ?

Any help would be appreciated. Thanks for your time.

I have read quite a few posts and am impressed with the quality of help, and openess of sharing information.

Thanks for your quick response.

So, LO85115 is for Exchange 2000 , and Sp3 and QO06202 are for Exchange 5.5 and 2000, correct ?

In a previous post you suggested not to apply sp3, was there a reason ?

Do the E8602 errors disappear after these fixes, or does the Antivirus still have to be disabled before backup ?

Thanks again.

I believe you errors do not have anything to do with the Anti-virus, so apply sp3 and then the other patch.

I didn't recommend SP3 previously because I do not believe it was properly Q and A'd, I had many problems in the lab, but now the quirks have been ironed out, for example, when installing from the SP3 integrated CD, or when upgrading to SP3 you require a renewal of the MSI on your systems. Done by running instmsiw from the arcserve Cd under a directory called msi, or it is also update by simply updating your internet explorer to 5.5. This is why I said no before, but I think we know the quirks well enough to get it up and going, the advantages FAR outway the dis....

SP2 + lo85115 is made to support the exchange 2000 agent.

SP2 + exchange 2000 agent (will not work, requires l085115)

SP2 + lo85115 will support all flavours of exchange (all supported flavours mind you)

SP3 alone - still a little buggy in the exchange agent backups, hence the "out of memory" errors and the e8602 errors.

SP3 + qo06202.caz - the latest, and hopefuly should have everything backing up smooooooooothly...

Hope this is clearer :)

Thanks again.

I called CA as well, and they said the same .. SP3 and QO6202 is for Arcserve with Exchange 5.5.

I hope this fixes the problems we are having, and again thanks for your time.

Just for the record, Arcserve is backing up everything perfectly now.

Thanks again for your help
