This is the error I keep getting "E8602 Failed
to read from database. (DBNAME=Individual Mailboxes\John
Doe\Calendar, EC=Backup Agent Error -- (69) Read/Write error in
named pipes.".)"

Which version of NT?
Local or over the net backup?
Backup job has full Exchange backup and bricks, or just bricks?
Which version of Arcserve? Patches for Arcserve?
Other mailboxes backup OK?
Last consistency check on Exchange server?
Which version and SP of Exchange?
Let me know and I'll help you.
Sincerely,
Jimpames@hotmail.com Jim P. Ames

I am using Exchange 5.5 Sp3 which is on a separate BDC server. Arcserve is on the PDC server and both are running NT 4.0 SP 6. It does appear that some of the mailboxes where backed up, also using full backup and bricks. I believe I have never done a consistency check. Any help would be Great.

Check if your RPC service is running at all.
Arcserve 'pulls' the mail through RPC. Named pipes belongs to that area.

Your Exchange MIGHT be corrupt - time to call Microsoft.
After you call MS, try this:

Wait for the weekend.
Stop all Exchange services.
Make two, full verified backups of the filesystem where Exchange is installed, on two tapes.
Make two, full verified backups of the server hosting Exchange.
Shut the server down.
Turn the server on.
Restart Exchange.
Ensure everything looks OK with mail.
Follow the MS procedure to run an Exchange Consistency Check/Integ ck...
Stop all Exchange services, shut the server down, bring the server up.
Try another backup of the mailbox.
Sincerely,
