I keep having problems backing up a server using the client agent. If I stop and restart the client agent service, the backup appears to work but I always get an "E8524" error and Arcserve reports that the job failed.

If I don't reset the agent service, I always get an "E8522" error.

Does anyone know what could be causing this behavior?

Thanks!

Arcserve is not receiving the proper information from the client. Is the IP address correct both at the client and the server? Is the password enabled and correct. Did you run the silent.bat? If everything seems ok, uninstall and reinstall the client agent. Hope this helps.

What is the silent.bat? I'm not familiar with that.

I could backup this server several months ago, but my ARCserve database went corrupt. I reinitialized it and then my problems started.

Thanks.

Hi,
You had mentioned that Arcserve 2000 Client Agent. Can you tell me whether the agent is for NT/Netware or Unix?

I think we can proceed after getting this poit clarified

Thanks

ARCserve client agent for NT. It's an NT 4.0 Server with SP6A.

Silent.bat performs an installation of the CA lic98 runtime, the common licensing subsystem shared by all CA Workgroup-, Advanced-, and Enterprise- Edition products. You'll find it in the directory with the client agent
