Hi all. I know there are similar issues already posted here but so far none of them have helped.

I am running ARCServe 2000 on a Win2K server. I recently changed the DB to SQL because I was tired of dealing with database corruption about every month. Looks like I shot myself in the foot. Now, my backups are running but there is a * next to the log entries. I believe that means it's not written to that database. I am also getting the following errors:

E4101 Unable to login to database engine. (DATABASE=ARCSERVE, EC=5)

[DBCLEAN] Failed to login.(rc=5)

I found the FAQ on EC=5 but none of that has helped. I'm about to look into another backup solution as this one has been little more than a pain in the ... I can't even find the EC=5 on the CA site.

If anyone has any thoughts, please feel free to post, even if you've posted them before. This is really getting ridiculous.

Thanks.

If you converted the old VLDB to SQL without first fixing any problems in the VLDB database they could be causing a problem with the SQL database.

Thanks. I'll check the error code. I've been through all the permissions but I'll do it again. One thing, though. I did have the VLDB working correctly (with no errors or problems) before I switched to SQL. I wanted to make the switch before I started having problems again.

Ok, still no luck at all with this permissions thing.

Can anyone tell how to switch back to VLDB? At least I know things were being written to the database with it.

Thanks.
