E4101 unable to login to database

Arcserve 9, windows 2k server.

Conditions:
1. Job just froze
2. Could not terminate process asjobrun
3. Was told to rename database.
4. Renamed Database
5. Jobs started working again, however error msg appeared:
E4101 Unable to login to database.

Can someone tell me how to rectify the problem?

When you rename the database the whole connection to this database is gone.
What happens when you just rename the database back to the original status and stop and restart the ARCserve related services ??

Check the the pruning job is working. Database maybe to big.
Recreate db from template.

I got the same error but I'm on version 11, "e4101 unable to connect to database" means that the database dir is to big. The temp dir is emptied and any file begining with r*.* in the database dir is deleted. Restarted the db engine and away we went.

I know it's a later version but it may you help find a solution or not !!!

 
I have a similar problem, but in addition I now can't start the database engine, it continually times out. Anyboby have an idea as to where to look?

You should check the activity log and see what errors are there.

You can also turn on debug tracing. I think you need to do it manaully by setting a registry key. HKLM\ComputerAssociates\BrightStor ARCserve Backup\Base\Datatbase. Set Debug to 1. Turn on the database engine and read the activity log. When you are done set Debug back to 0.

If you are using SQL Server then make sure it is up and running and that the account you specified in the server admin is correct. If you change the password in SQL you have to update these credentials using the server admin.
