E3855 Unable to position media

E3855 Unable to position media EC=CONTROLLER FAILURE OR HARDWARE FAILURE.

I recive this error when i try a full backup with append option and i have stopped the 3 Arcserve services.
When i try an incremental backup whit append all is ok!!!

I have this configuration:
Arcserve 2000 SP4 whit Tape library option on Domain controller

Compaq DL580 server
Compaq TL891DLX 10 tape library

I have upgrade the library to the latest firmaware aviable from Compaq and the latest patch from CA

The problems occours ONLY if i stop the Services, if i don't stop it all is OK.

Somebody can help me...

If its related to services then i think all the slots in the
library are not getting initialised i.e inventory is incomplete
Try to switch off the library and then the server and then
bring up the library and let it initialise completely until you see ready status on the display. Then bring up the server, launch arcserve and go to arcserve-manager-device and let it complete the updation of the slots, once its done, run the backup.

I call Compaq and they have change my scsi controller.
Now Arcserve work good.

If you have the same problems, look at Compaq site for the compatibly list with TL891DLX that use a different scsi controller of TL891!!!
