E3855 unable to position media

Hello!

I am working with Arcserve 11.1.
Some of my backup jobs fail with error "3855 unable to position media".
Can somebody help.

I would make sure that you have all of the latest device updates from CA. I had this problem many times with a tape autoloader and a patch solved it. I also had this issue with File System Devices prior to 11.5 SP3 which appeared to be due to a tape engine bug.

Looks like there is a device update QO84873 as well as SP2 which will need to be applied (if it isn't already) as a prereq.

You can also do a search on CA's support site for the E3855 error, you will find a lot of them posted there.

I see that you are using Arcserve 11.1, are you able to get the 11.5 update? If so, get it and apply SP3.
