E3711 unable to open session (ec=maximum device reached)

My backup sever is Win2k with
Arcserve ver7.0 build 1086
Tape library option ver7.0 build 442
San option ver7.0 build 276
Raid option Ver7.0 build 477

I will get good backups for 5 -7 days and then I will get failed backups with the error E3711 unable to open session (ec=maximum device reached). I must reboot the server and the tape drives and it is okay again for a little while. Other times I get the E3711 error and the tape engine has stopped and cannot be restarted without again rebooting the server and tape drives. I called Arcserve tech support and they said it could be a paging file issue with the server but could not give me any suggestions.

Yes, it does sound like a paging file issue. Have you tried increasing the page file size? What is the disk space like on the said servers c:drive (if page file is located on c)? what is the physical size of RAM on the server with arcserve? Is the page file RAM + 12 Meg more?

Here are the specs for the server it has 32 gig of free disk space.
Total Physical Memory 1,441,328 KB
Available Physical Memory 1,106,072 KB
Total Virtual Memory 5,827,996 KB
Available Virtual Memory 4,926,168 KB
Page File Space 4,386,668 KB

The backups that are fail are on the raid groups these drives are dlt2000 15/30 firmware revsion 840B. Are ther any patches for the raid option??

hmmmmm, you are running the latest build of the RAID option. And there aren't any specific RAID patches that I can see (just checked). The only thing I can think is that the drive firmware is quite old. Your on 840B and the least supported firmware is 930A. However this was looking up quantum DLT 2000. You may have another brand name.
