Hi, I have a questio regarding an E3 configured in a router.
The following is the Interface configuration.

interface Serial1/0
description CONEXION CON E3M-0707-0003
mtu 1500
ip address 201.117.202.205 255.255.255.252
rate-limit input 15000000 24000 24000 conform-action transmit exceed-action drop
rate-limit output 15000000 24000 24000 conform-action transmit exceed-action drop
dsu bandwidth 34010

My question are the following:
1.- If an E3 is 34,000 Kbps(34 Mbps) the DSU bandwidth 34010 is the same?
2.- in the line rate-limit input/otput 15000000 means 15,000 Kbps/15 Mbps?
3.- What 24000 24000 conform-action transmit exceed-actio drop means?
4.- 24000 is 24000 Kbps or Mbps?

Thanks in advance for your help.

1)Yes---it is there because of the rate-limit parameters.
2)Mega
3)If the bandwidth used exceeds 15Mbps in OR out, then packets get dropped. The 24000 is burst limit.
4)Neither---bits.

This is a CAR configuration to limit bandwidth usage, and is usually tied with an ACL.

4) Bytes (not bits).

Whoopsie...

"excess burst size—Bytes allowed in a burst before all packets will exceed the rate limit.

normal burst size—Bytes allowed in a burst before some packets will exceed the rate limit. Larger bursts are more likely to exceed the rate limit. "

Grazie.
