Hi guys,

we've recently deployed a site with 40+ E129's. Totally random, the hook switches fail. The phone keeps working, only the hook switch does not seem respond to anything and phone can only be used on speaker or headset.

After rebooting the phone all is well again but ofcourse this is not a solution :)

Any clue anyone?

Peter

I have read that before over here.
I really think you should kick some ass at Avaya :)

Oh crap. I tried the search, obviously, but couldn't find any posts..

I'm hoping this is not becoming like D160-gate.

Only difference is that we can make phone calls, but only on speaker/headset. They don't lock up entirely, just the hook switch.

You are lucky i guess :)

Unfortunately our client doesn't see it that way :p

I bet they don't like.
What does Avaya say about it?

Nothing yet. I have one here at the office that happens to do the same, but in order to enable syslog I had to reboot it (so it works again). We're now waiting for it to fail again, but I'm afraid that I will just NOT see the off/on hook event in syslog (which I do see now).

They pay for half a phone and can use 2/3 interfaces so it's still a win =)

I must have been lucky since I haven't had any trouble with the few I've installed but I dislike them anyway.
Only used them in common areas, wouldn't recommend them to a desk user.

I'll make sure to tell the customer janni78! ;-)

Is this the issue you're having? Know issue in 1.25.1.1

User Interface
Rapid-772
Changing the phone language to an already installed
phone will result in loss of handset functionality.
Speaker and headset will continue working fine.

Workaround: logout the user and re-login to recover.
An alternative workaround is to reset the device after
the change.

Indeed OMG.
What a stupid bug (again)
It looks like Avaya hires moneys to write the software these days.
