Sorry I have a few issues.

1. I was trying to figure out how to increase the timeout on how low long it takes to run a crystal report from e-portfolio. We seem to have a problem where all of our reports are starting to timeout. We are looking at new indexing schemes to optimize queries but as a temporary solution this will do.

2. The other odd thing is that when I run the reports from Crystal Reports 8.5 (the app) I get the results within a few seconds (12 seconds). When I run the same crystal report from e-Portfolio it takes over a minute. Our e-portfolio server is only hit by 5 people max. Why is there such a large difference between running the app and the web interface to run the same report?

I thank you in advance for your response.

1. Check the Crystal Desicion web site. there was a patch that dealt with the time out being treated as seconds opposed to minutes.
2. How much work is the database doing and how much work is Crystal doing. If you are returning a large number of rows and using Crystal to group, format, and calculate, the time it takes a report to run could be verrry long. Our shop opted to use stored procedure to hand the heavy crunching and formatting within the database engine. We only send back the rows needed for the report with little if any work being done in Crystal itself. How much other work is being done on your report server? Are the data access methods the same and/or configured the same on your report server and your development environment? Is it a network issue between the report server and the database server?

1. Looked all throughout Crystal Decisions website but couldn't find how to chnage the timeout - if you come across it please post it up in this thread.
2. Thank you - we decided to do the same - stored procedures. Performance improved but still there is much difference in executing the query from a machine that has the Crystal Report client and one that has Crystal Enterprise. I guess this is something we have to live with. Thank you again for you help
