A recent tech bulletin advises not to apply the latest SP2 upgrades to a Win2K3 server hosting Ops/E-Mgr. From reading, it appears to only apply to "R2" variants.

Can anyone verify that bulletin applies only to "R2" variants of the 2K3 server O/S and not to "R1"? I'm getting a little pressure from our server security team.

Thanks

Hve asked that EXACT question to our TAM on Friday.

Will let you know the answer if / when i get one

R2 is specifically mentioned in the engineering notes as the Highest supported variant.

SP2 is specifically mentioned as not being supported.

As a matter of fact yes. Wife put her car in 3' of water in flooded underpass 2 wks ago, so MIMB took off last week and pulled the trigger on that new (08) Acura TL he's been ogling.... >>BSEG<<

Back on topic...
am I to understand
R2 + SP1 Supported
R2 + SP2 NOT supported
R1 + SP2 supported? (This is what they're wanting to load)

We inquired with our TAM today as well.
Still waiting to hear back.

My understanding from my last dealings with Product Support is SP2 is NOT supported, period. R2 or not, stop at SP1.

That is correct. We heard back from our TAM today and also got the exact same information from Product Support.

Windows 2K3 Server Service pack 2 is not supported, period, regardless of whether you are running Win2K3 Standard Edition or Win2K3 "R2"

Now then, the above having been said, Product support did say that they presently have no known or open tickets with any field sites running E-MGR on "SP-2" but they were quick to caution us that if we proceeded in upgrading the Win2K3 Server to SP2 that we would be running in an unsupported configuration which would technically amount to a free "waive-off" from Product Support having any obligation to assist us in the event we later did have a problem.

There is no open DPAR or 'defect' - Design is aware of the issue and is working on it, but there is no timeline or ETA. Whatever fix becomes available is expected to be in the form of a future release of EMgr.
