Dear Forum Members,

I am using NNM 6.10 on Sun Solaris.

Is it possible to send out E-mail notifications - in case of particular events - with NNM without installing add-ons like Telalert? Or, Do I always need add-ons?

If it is possible without using an add-on, can someone tell me how to do this?

Kind Regards,

XelHa

I'm not an NNM person, I use OVO really, but I understand that you can have automatic actions in NNM. These could be used to send email I would think. Mike

Dear Mike,

I know about the automatic action. I use automatic actions for various events - but I could not get it work to send email notification about events.

Kind regards,

Hi Xelha, have you properly configured sendmail.cf, so it can relay/forward e-mail to your current domain?
What are you running as automatic actions, a script that uses mailx?

Dear Vlan52,

Thanks for your support.

I think that I configured sendmail properly. Since it can forward messages to my exchange domain. That works fine.

What does not work is sending email with event details as a automatic action in NNM. The automatic action (i found this on this forum)I use for node down event is:

/usr/usb/mail -s "$2 down" <<my mail address>> </tmp/dummyfile

Hi Xelha, I usually send the e-mails as follows:
mailx -s Hello user@domain </tmp/dummyfile
And works everytime, not sure about /usr/usb/mail, but, well, let me check how to properly define this in NNM and mail or mailx, and I'll let you know a.s.a.p., ok?
