Environment:

2 domains with a 2-way trust. Exchange server in one domain, other domain users have their accounts on it too.

Question: is there a way to have the "E-mail" field automatically populate for new user accounts in the domain that doesn't own the Exchange server?

Sounds like you're running Exchange 2007 in a resource forest (linked mailbox). If that's the case don't you already have ILM or FIM doing the provisioning/linking of the mailboxes? If so, you would need to flow the primary proxyAddresses value from the exchange (resource) forest to the mail property in the user forest.

If you're not using ILM then you'll need to do some scripting with the inporting of ldf files.
