IS-IT--Management
This is my first time, so please forgive any errors in protocol. I manage the POS Support Group for a small (33)chain of restaurants. Marketing is doing research on implementing E-Gift Cards. My question is directed to the processing of the E-Gift Card number to the Point of Sale.
In today's world of digital technology, what is the best way to get an "E-Gift Card" number that was transmitted to my guest's cell phone into the POS without taking the phone to the terminal to enter the 16 digit E-Card number? The issuer of the GC does not use bar codes. We do not yet have any Pay at the Table devices, and we do not utilize any bar code readers.
My concern is that I do not want to give my phone to my food server. If the food server correctly copies the 16 digit number from all the phones at the table, what are the chances that the server will correctly get all of those 16 digit codes onto the correct seats and/or checks at that table?
Any input on this subject would be greatly appreciated.
