Has anybody used the Beer House or dashCommerce
E-commerce Starter Kit?
Or could anyone recommed anything better, even if
not for free? thanks

Personally, I found it overly-complicated and with quite a few bugs.

Odd, i searched the forums for the keyword "dashcommerce" and it returned nothing.

Anyway, due to your posts i installed dashCommerce to see what it was about, and i found it very week in administration. It does use improved technology of dot net 2.0 compared to other .net commerce packages, however they really need to develop an improved interface for administration.

Now i am not saying any other is much better, just that i was disappointed in dashCommerce due to the hype.

I came across a .NETCart which looks promising. I haven't had a chance to check out the demo, but it comes with the source code and is supposed to be fully functional. Please post back if it is any good.

SEO is a very important feature for an ecommerce site.

Some of they will I'm sure. Look through the feature list of the one's you have found to see if they mention it.

What I'm alluding to is that I think the original poster is getting confused between a more human readable URL and a search engine URL.

A URL such as:

http://www.vitacost.com/FoodScience-Aangamik-DMG

is easier for humans to read than:

http://www.vitacost.com/mypage.aspx?Category=1

However, it is a common misconception that search engines have trouble with the second type. Maybe 5-10 years ago, a lot of querystring values may have had an impact but nowadays this does [n]not[/b] make a difference. So, an "SEO Friendly Product URL" isn't anything to be at all worried about.

Ok, Mark. I was just making joke. To the original poster, I think the query strings added to a URL serves a greater purpose within your own application than it does to search engines.

I could be mistaken, but I believe you get better results from keyword than linkage. However, with good linkage you have more control over what the search bot sees.

There isn't one set of defined "rules" so to speak (especially as search engines keep their algorithms secret from us) but either way, in this case, the URL isn't going to be an issue as long as you describe the page well to the search engine.
