When I have a dynamic parameter in a report and try to save the report to Business Objects/InfoView I get this:

Error with Business Objects Enterprise
Failed to read data from report file "my file location" Reason:failed to read parameter object.

Any ideas?

When I ask anyone here, they just say oh dynamic parameters never seem to work for us..

In CMC, go to the report and select the 'Process' tab then the 'Parameters'option.
click on each line (each parameter)under the heading'value' (It doesn't look like you can click on them, but it will let you)
This opens up
"Set the initial value for this parameter"
choose
"Prompt the user for new value(s) when viewing"
and choose something(anything)as a parameter and save
do this for each parameter,

This may not be the official way to fix, but works for me, I get this all the time.

My problem is I can't even get it to save to CMC from crystal reports.

Isn't the solution above just if I can first get it to save to into Business Objects? Thanks again.

Try pulling it FROM CMC rather than saving TO CMC.
i.e browse to the report you want and upload as a new object.
I think that would be the only way to try. In theory it should make a difference, I just know sometimes trying the other way works.

Same results...

Adding Crystal Report "CSRProductivity.rpt" failed. The server with kind rptappserver returned an error result. Failed to copy the report file to the report object. Refreshing the report object properties might have failed. Failed to read data from report file C:\Program Files\Business Objects\BusinessObjects Enterprise 12.0\Data\CrystalReportsRasServer\temp\{621A3846-0684-4EF9-A04E-FE02EF50695F}.rpt. Reason: Failed to read parameter object

When saving to BOE from Crystal, be sure to check the "Enable Repository Refresh" checkbox. By default, this is off.

The query for a dynamic prompt is stored in a Business View that is stored in the repository.

A computer only does what you actually told it to do - not what you thought you told it to do.

Dang...same thing..Thought that would work..I have a meeting today with others who have reports here that have a dynamic parameter and work, so I'll update everyone if I find out my problem. Thanks again to you all..
