Dynamic email recipient list generated by CE

QUESTION:
How to email off a report to recipient list, which is dynamically generated by Crystal report named "email_list" per se. This "email_list" report is in some CE folder, so can be refreshed by CE user.

ONE SOLUTION:
Crystal tech suggested (NOT user-friendly):
1. Refresh a report on CE; create / update CSV file (comma-separated value format, e.g., .txt).
2. Pick up the Email field from the CSV file by ADO data objects.

From CE there is no way (?) to retrieve the field on a particular report (recipient list in this case) and input into the Email destination field.

ANY ALTERNATIVE or THIRD PARTY SOLUTION?

Any lead and suggestion will be very much appreciated

You'd have to write code to do this within CE.

As a workaround, we are in the process of implementing this via Outlook, i.e. I'm getting Crystal to email the report to me and I have a rule setup within Outlook upon receipt of the message to forward it to a pre defined list of recipients.

Not especially pretty, but it works and it's easy to update the distribution list.

There isn't a "Dynamic" way to do this is in CE. Our manual work-around is listed below.

We have set-up a report in CE to run an e-mail mailing list from our DB and e-mail it to our GroupWise account staff every Friday afternoon.

The staff then manually update (ie. "copy all") a GroupWise group called "FridayList" with the addresses from the report. This is about a 30-second job.

On Monday morning at 6:30 AM - a weekly report runs and is e-mailed as a PDF to FridayList@OurDomainName.com - GroupWise Server then routes it forward to the addresses that are in the current "FridayList".

APOS has a tool called AddressGateway that might do some of this function within CE, or some of the other 3rd party Report Manager tools can do it without using CE.

Thanks very much for your fast response, and I checked all the leads.... As MJRBIM menttioned, there isn't a "Dynamic" way to do this is in CE.

Perhaps Crystal will have (in the future?)
* a command in processing extension to retrive "email address" fields as the RDC did and
* a command to send the email address to destination in CE.

For now there is no solution.
