I had to reformat and reinstallWin XP Home on my computer. Prior to the reinstallation, I had my operating systen Win XP Home NTSF 20 GB primary drive and a 40GB no OS NTSF (backup drive) as a slave. Had no problems.

After reinstall, the 40 GB backup drive does not show up in MY Computer. (It does show up on boot screen, bios, Disk Management Utility, and Partition Magic 8, but as a DYNAMIC DISK with no drive letter assigned.)

Questions?. Does any one know how the backup disk went from basic to dynamic by its self?
Can i recover my files from this disk?
Can I reconvert back to a basic disk without loosing my files (data)?

Is there anyway to assign a drive letter to this disk?

Any assistance would be appreciated!!!

I don't know enough about windows xp but it looks similar to windows 2k. Is there a disk manager utility for administration, etc. that allows you to import foreign disks?
