Hello all, I need to figure out a way to change or the color of a series within a bar chart by using a formula. I'm using CR10, mySQL. It's probably not doable but I still have to ask. Thanks.

Hi Max,

some weeks ago we had a demonstration of CR 10 in our company. The B.O. representetive told as that one of the new features concerning the charts is that you in fact can decide the colours in a bar chart.

Unfortunately I am still working with CR 8.5 so I can not tell you how to do. But it should be possible.

Dear Max,

In the Chart Expert, Type Tab make sure that you uncheck "Automatically set Chart Options", now click the options tab and then the Format button next to color. You can set the color options based the data in the chart.

Hope that helps,

Thanks, Rosemary. I was bright enough not to look up the automatic colors option. Do you have any idea why the Format button is not enabled in the options tab? Could it be because I'm using a crosstab chart to have groups? Thanks for the help.
-Max

Dear Max,

Yes, it is because it is based upon a crosstab. You can insert a chart and choose advanced to mimic the crosstab and then you will be able to set the chart color format!

regards,

ro
