Not that it directly relates to your questions but if you want a burner that handles both formats well go for the
NEC 1300A Its good fairly cheap and does well with most DVD programs

Have you personally used -RW or did you just read that somewhere? There are two kinds of erases - quick and full. Anytime you do a full erase, it can easily take more than 10 minutes with either format. I have never heard of there being a problem with the quick erase in the -RW format. Also if you go to that link I posted above, you'll see that out of thousands of DVD players, the -R/RW still has a slight lead in compatibility over +R/RW.
Besides, getting a dual-format burner yields the best of both worlds, regardless of their differences. Best of all, they're not that much more expensive anymore.

they dont really say they mainly go on about the type of stuff u store on them I was wantin to know if difference bettween them is disk surface or is the way they r writen?

It's a combination of both. Mainly it's the way they're written, but the discs are also physically different. For instance, you can't use a -R/RW disc in a +R/RW burner. Is there a real need to know more?
