There is a dvd rom connected to the server Sun-Fire-V210, is there any way by which I can find whether its a dvd writer or just a rom.

If using Solaris 8 there is a R/W software on the Supplement
cd (media kit)

Solaris 9 release 4 has no support but Solaris 9 release 6
will have support.

The DVD-ROM on the V210 will R/W.

Eh? In that case it's not a ROM! :)

Hi Annihilannic,Tuka,

Can you'll take a look at the below mentioned output and confirm with me if its really dvd rom with writer(r/w) ability.

OS :- Solaris 9 4/04 s9s_u6wos_08a SPARC

It is read only: reference Panasonic SR-8177
Also in the earlier message about Solaris 9 support the statement should read (supported s9s_u6wos)
(not suppported s9s_u4wos)

Thanks to each and everyone for your precious time and help.
