I had a WD Sata 250G hard drive already installed and it took me awhile to figure out how to set my bios when I added a WD EIDE ata 250G hard drive, but I got it working. Now my 2 DVD drives do not shop. It's as if they are not plugged in or something. If anyone knows how my bios should be set, or any suggestion as to how I can get my drives back I would be grateful. Thanks, Chris

If both DVD drives are connected to the IDE 2 channel, then make sure the IDE 2(secondary) channel is enabled in BIOS, 'Auto' is selected for recognizing the drives in BIOS, the MB's chipset drivers are installed, and the IDE cable is installed correctly with it's colored stripe along the one edge next to the power lead on the back of each drive, and next to pin 1 at the MB connector.

If those are ok, then try a different known working IDE cable.

If no luck, then see if one of the DVD drives is recognized when connected to the IDE 1 channel.
If it is, then the IDE 2 controller may be bad.

Thanks Ski, I switched the power cables and it worked so I think the power cable I had plugged into the master drive is not so good, but it is working now. Thanks for your reply, Chris
