Ok, I have a A7A266 board with 1013.001 bios. Processor is a Athlon 1600. IDE Hard drives on 0, CD-RW (master) and DVD-RW on 1. Both have 80 pin cables. Win XP Pro SP2.

Here's what's going on. I can't get it to recognize my dvd burner drive (NEC DVD_RW_ND_1300A). It shows in explorer as a CD-Drive (although it DOES show a dvd-r disc is in it). If I try to open to look at what's on the drive I get "Not accessible, Incorrect Function". Of course I cannot burn any DVD's. In my device manager I have under IDE/ATAPI controllers:
* Ali 5229 PCI Bus Master IDE Controller
* Primary IDE Channel
* Secondary IDE Channel

Primary IDE Channel is inactive because it says it's conflicting with SCSI RAID/ Host COntroller.

I thought I might try to remove the Ali Controller (Just trying stuff here) and when I do, it locks on me as soon as I click on OK to uninstall.

Any ideas? Am I making any sense here?

Sorry, let me make this clearer....

IDE0 Ch 0 - Master Hard Drive
IDE0 Ch 1 - Slave Hard Drive

IDE1 Ch 0 - CDRW
IDE1 Ch 1 - DVDRW

You wouldn't happen to have Alcohol or Daemon Tools installed, would you?

I had some odd IDE issues just a short time ago due to conflicts with a virutal SCSI drive caused by Alcohol 120%.

Just basically backing up what Wishdiak said above.

Alcohol 120%, DaemonTools, etc, will show up as a SCSI device to Windows. If either of those are present, I'd disable any virtual drives they may have created first, and then try again and see if you have any luck.
