DVD/CD burner no working properly

Hello all,

I have a Sony DVD/Cd RW burner. I can't burn anything snce it keeps asking me to insert an empty disc with Nero. Also, when the drive is empty and I click on the drive, nothing happens...not even a prompt that tells me to insert a disc in the drive. I run Win XP...2.4ghz. Intel.

Any idea?

My device manager shows that the drive is working properly. However, I can't access any cd that I put in the drive, which is very odd. My burner is on the compatibility list for XP.

ANy other ideas?
