dvd burning software and xp

can anybody suggest a good dvd burning software other than nero as im having allsorts of probs with nero

To be honest I have found nero to be the best DVD burning software to date.

What are the problems you are experiencing?

I have found that most burning problems for DVD drives can be fixed with a firmware upgrade and/or change of media.

whats happening is that on 1 machine runnign xp pro part way into transcoding the whole machine freezes ive updated nero to latest and still same happens so ive taken the dvd drive out and put it in another machine fresh load of xp and nero and this one comes up burn process failed

the make and model of the drive is a btc dvd dual 8x the firmware is uptodate on the drive
the drive has been working ok in the past this last week has started giving me probs

just ran live update again and the model no comes back as dvdrw-ide1008 and the firmware is 0059

Your deffinatly bang up to date.

Have you changed the media that you are using recently?
Is your XP updated to SP2? If so have the problems been since then?
You can try the system file checker, this will make sure that your system files are correct. Start > Run > Sfc /scannow. You will need your Windows XP cd.

its still the same media ive been using before hand so im at a loss will try the scan and see what happens

ive only got sp1 loaded
ive tried to run the scannow but it comes back cant find the program

Has anyone else noticed that, after installing iTunes, Nero can no longer "fix" the disc when burning? The last process consistently fails now that iTunes is installed.

I've tried un-installing iTunes, but it didn't help.

doh missed out the space on the sfc command ran it and it dosnt find any probs xp is at sp1 gonna get sp2 and try that see that does anything
