I am currently running six 2000 (with sp3) servers. Every 35 minutes at least two (and sometimes all) of the domian controllers except the name server report an NetBT error message with Event ID 4319.
Through the eventviewer the IP address of the machine that sent the message is the name server which has a static address.
After some searching most discussions point towards WINS but in my case we do not have any servers or PCs configured with WINS.
I have run nbtstat -n on all servers and none of them show a conflict warning.
Browsing by the network does not show any duplicate PC names. I have checked through all DNS settings and there is not any duplicate records and the same goes for DHCP database.
Another potential solution I have read about causing this error is where an identical person has logged into two PC's. Is there a way of checking who has logged into each PC without visiting each PC?
Any other ideas as to why this error may be repeating will be much appreciated.
