How do I stop duplicate emails from being recieved by Outlook clients on Exchange 5.5?

Thanks

You will have to explain this further. Duplicate emails is not a default feature. Something somewhere is causing copies or looping.

Check out the header info - are they actually the SAME email in that every number/line in the header of both emails are the same? Perhaps your MTA is looping somehow.

Are there client side rules turned on that are somehow copying all messages back again to the inbox. (That could get ugly...)

Is it only one user, one profile, one mailbox, one type of mail message???

What have you tried in troubleshooting?

Etc...

We don't have enough info to help you.

Do you have a PIX firewall? Make sure the "No fixup protocol SMTP 25". It shuts off a feature on the PIX called MailGuard. This fixed my duplicate e-mail problem.

Im having the same problem on our network and cannot seem to stop this from happenning. It is occurring on all release of windows loaded with Outlook 2000. It has gotten so bad that we are thinking of ditching Outlook! The messages are exact replicas. Their is no rhyme nor reason to it./ Some messages duplicate themselves 2 times while others might do it 15 times. this is even happenning within folders the users created. Ex. The user creates a folder and moves 1 message into the folder. A couple fo days later they come back in and that message has been duplicated numerous times within that user created folder. You can literally sit at a users computer and watch the same message download multiple times......This happens with users that are using an exchange view only, as well as those that have a personal folder configured for offline viewing. This is bad, someone please assist!

Meant to add, we are on Exchange 5.5 and this is happenning on Outlook 2000....I plan to go around today and load SR-1 in hopes that might fix.

I've never seen this exact thing. Sorry I'm not help. You might call MS support.

ddesign, do you have a PIX? Did you see my earlier post? This is what happened to us exactly, and that line in the PIX fixed it.
