Duplicate Emails appearing daily - VERY STRANGE

We have an Exchange 2003 Server and some users have begun to see duplicate e-mails appearing from internal staff daily.
Example
Internal person receives e-mail from internal staff member on Monday at 8:00am. They open the e-mail and read then close it and leave it sitting in their Inbox. Tuesday morning a copy of the same e-mail appears with same time/date of Monday at 8:00am. Same thing occurs if they delete the e-mail.
Only relates to mail sent internally.

I spent a bit of time searching the web and haven't stumbled on anything yet. Any ideas or suggestions welcomed.

Are these read reciepts? Or exact copies of the mail sent on Monday?

I would check the time zone and time on the computers.

Can you expand on why the time zone would be relevant as I am curious.

check the message queue to make sure messages aren't stuck in the outbound queue.
