Duplicate email problem

Some of my users are experiencing an issue with their email where they receive multiple copies of the same message. With some messages this only happens once, others are delivered multiple times on multiple occasions. Email server is Exchange 2003 SP2, clients are a mix of outlook 2000/2003. Anyone have any ideas about this? Thanks in advance.
 
Are your inbound emails delivered to your Exchange server via a Watchguard firewall (SMTP proxy) by any chance?

We had an issue similar to that you describe due to a misconfiguration of our Fireboxes.

 
Thanks for the reply, we have a barracuda spam filter that screens our mail before it arrives at the exchange box. What was misconfigured in your case, perhaps I can look for a similar setting on our device?
 
Our solution related to the way in which the Watchguard scans for virus content and/or strips certain file types. Watchguard advise that the identification of file types be done by pattern type (extension) rather than by mime type.

I wouldn't say that relates to your issue but then again I know very little about the Barracuda.

Do the Barracuda logs give you any help?

 
Actually, now that I think about it I don't think the Barracuda could even be related since the issue occurs with both internal and external messages but the filter is only screening the external ones.
