I have got a duplicate e-mail problem. Many users in my company complain that every now and then receive the same e-mail on some occasions(its very sporadic)

We are using a classic Lotus notes hub&spoke configuration (servers are R4.5 and above). All connections are via leased lines using BT Concert. These leased lines run from London to 12 offices all over Europe.

I am having a problem pinning down the problem. Is this problem being casued by our WAN or is it being caused by something else on my hub server.(I have Mcafee Group shield running on my hub server). I have been advised that the problem can be caused by very large attachments, is this correct?

Has any body else come across this?
Any help appreciated.

I am experiencing the same problem with duplicate e-mail. Have you found a solution to this problem?

Try to check and see if the emails are part of a group email. If the user is in multiple groups on the same email I believe they would get it twice.

Luggage/Prpldodge0,

Thanks for your responces.

Initially I though that this was a group thing but these e-mails are being sent to individuals(not to a group).

I have not made any changes to the notes configuration but the TCP/IP traffic is increasing on our WAN all the time.

From my hub server mail is deleivered to all the other offices. Mail should be marked as deleted(in mail.box on the "hub server") once the router has successfully sent it. I'm guessing that there is some sort of timeout happening and the mail is not being zapped from mail.box and is being sent again??.

I have no idea how the hell I can prove this but its the only thing I can come up with at the moment.

My main problem is that this problem is very sporadic. There is no logic to when it will happen next. If it was happening all the time then I could start some sort of tests.

If this problem is happening on a very regular basis then I suggest that you try and send test e-mails when the network is quiet(middle of the night) and see if this solves the problem.

Mizzy,

Mizzy,
I had this same problem on my Notes R5 server and tracked it down to our Antivirus product. Re-installed the Antivirus (which uses the "DeadMail" system similar to Groupshield) and the problem went away.
Try looking for the "scanned by" or similar field on the duplicated Notes to determine if the duplicates are all items that the Antivirus software scanned.
Just my 2 cents here....Good Luck (-:
