When i run nbtstat -n it shows a conflict on computer names. How do I find out which is the other machine that is causing this?

You can check your DHCP server to see duplicate machine names. WINS as well will acomplish this. One trick is to unplug the machine that is getting the 'duplicate' message. Then pinging the machine name to get the IP address of the culprit and track it down.

That makes sense.

An added problem is that one of the duplicates is my server/domain controller so turning it off isn't too straightforward. It only seems to be the server that is having any problems with this. All clients can browse the network ping the computer name etc.

I will try your suggestion and report back probably tomorrow.
