I am running Windows Server 2K, and I recently purchased a new server that I want to use as a backup. I would like to duplicate it exactly without imaging the drives. I want the DHCP, DNS, Active Directory along with all the shares and that type of stuff. Is there a utility that can do this, or will I need to reconfigure each aspect individually. Any info would be great, and thanks.

A better idea is to configure the server as an additional domain controller. That way, it will have Active Directory (and be updated), and DNS.

As far as DHCP, you can always install DHCP on both servers and split the scope up, so that each server hands out a different range of IPs.

For the data, you may want to think about setting up replication with FRS if the data is relatively static. If the data is more dynamic (like profiles), then the best thing to do is to back up to tape. If the current server dies, it won't take very long to restore the data to the new server.

As advised by mlichstein, run dcpromo on the second server as additional domain controller and install the dns but dont forget to point it to itself-the ip address,
I am managing a network of 50 users and have 2 domain controllers each running the dns service
Since the company keeps a lot of shared data, I added a member server as a file server and back all these servers to a back up drive (200gb hard drive) on a win 2k professional computer.I am using a batch file to back up the servers using the microsoft backup utility
