Hello,

Is it possible to get all the report objects published to the CE10 database dumped somehow? I mean that the report objects would be back in .rpt format and they could be e.g. uploaded again to the server in case of disaster etc.

I guess that this could be done somehow with the ce java libraries but so far I haven't managed to find out how that should be done. Importing wizard of CE has a sort of dumping functionality but as far I know it cannot be used in importing files to a normal file system.

Could anyone help me out with this?

BR,

Hey,

unfortunately export to normal file system through Import wizard works only with BOXI. Import wizard from Version CE 10 doesn't support this issue.

You can backup your system in two steps:

1. Backup the CE System Database
2. Backup the File Repository

Warning: Be careful that the CMS and the rest of the CE system isn't running while you backup the system. Otherwise the backup could get inconsistent.

Hi,
The files in the FRS are named oddly and that will make it difficult to reimport them into some rebuilt system, unless you have a good copy of the CMS database as it existed when the FRS copy was made ..You can then just 'point' the Input and Output servers to the FRS's new/restored location..

The original .rpt files are not copied or moved, so keeping them ( as any other source files are kept) is a very good idea..That way, if everything published is lost, you still have the reports and can republish them..

Hi,

Thank you all for your answers.

Actually I have BOEXI installed too as I have tested it for a while. I guess the BIAR archive is the one bleuys is pointing at. Creating that kind of archive file could be the easiest way to get some kind of snapshot what do I actually have in my repository at the moment. Thanks for your tip.

Ideally I'd like to take that snapshot automatically and move it in a safe place. However the import wizard doesn't support that kind of functionality, does it?

Andrew, I think I have to check out that java dumping a bit later. I glanced those java documents but I didn't find directly a way to do the dumping. It could be possibly done through exportcontrol property?

Anyway, I'm getting on holiday at the end of this week so at the moment I'm not very interested in struggling with some java project =) I just put there some kind of sticky gum which keeps parts together a couple of weeks.

I'll get back to this later.

BR,
Janne

Hi,

you're right. There is no way to take a snapshot automatically. You're only able to <b>import</b> a BIAR File automatically.

But I heared rumors that there could be a way to take a snapshot automatically in the future... ;-)
