I'm starting a new thread that picks up where this one left off:

IP412 Version 3.1 (65) Dual PRI/T1 card in slot A
When the system is rebooted, the T1 line goes into alarm. The only way to clear the alarm and get it functioning again is to unplug the T1 line and then plug it back in. I had technicians from Verizon checking the T1 and said it had to be a problem with IP Office. I oppened a case with Avaya. They believe it is a software bug. I'll post back when I know more. I'm running a monitor log and waiting for the system to reboot, so I can send Avaya the information.

Anyone else seeing this problem?

Thanks,
Tom

I posted in the other thread that I have a few 412's with the same issue. I'm actuall at a location now that has a 412 with 3.1.65 but they do not have this issue.

I can't go back and read the whole other thread now but have you made sure one of the PRI's is set to Unsutiable aqnd one is set for Network under clocking?

Right now, we only use one of the ports. We have a DCS-T1 connection. Both ports have been setup exactly the same. They both are setup like this:

Line Sub Type: T1

Frameing: D4
Zero Supp: AMI ZCS
Clock Quality: Network
CSU Operation: checked (port B this is not checked)
Line Comp: LongHaul 0dB
Channel Unit: Normal
Line Signalling: CPE
Incoming Routing Digits: 4
CRC Checking: checked

Are you saying that the clock quality should be set to unusable on the second (unused) port?

Thanks for the help. The guys at Avaya are scratching their heads on this one. They said they have seen it before but are unable to track the cause.

I just got off the phone with Avaya again. I set the second port to:

Line Sub Type: T1

Frameing: D4
Zero Supp: AMI ZCS
Clock Quality: Unsuitable
CSU Operation: unchecked
Line Comp:
Channel Unit: Normal
Line Signalling: CPE
Incoming Routing Digits: 4
CRC Checking: unchecked

He also had me put a loop back terminator on the second port. Now, I'm waiting for the system to reboot to check if that fixed it. His next idea is to nuke the T1 config and start again. I'm not crazy about that idea.

Let me know what happens after the reboot. I can touch base with one of the customers that did have this problem and find out what the final solution was if that does not work for you.

The changes and reboot did not help. Avaya is setting up some testing in their shop to duplicate the problem. I'll post back when I hear more.

Thanks,

Are you talking about the T1 line or the loop-back jumper?
Port A is the T1
port B is not used - had me put the jumper in to see if it had any effect.

Avaya is sending a guy out here tomorrow. Hopefully, I'll have some good results.

sorry i meen slot A
is the other one empty ?
always start with slot B

I was told to start with slot A. The manual for the 401 states that a dual T1 card has to be in slot A. I have a 412, so that doesn't mean much, but I figured that would be the way to do it. The T1 does function correctly, it just doesn't reconnect after a reboot. This has been a problem since the T1 was installed. Maybe with a tech out here I can find out what's going on.

i was tought to start with slot B
and if you put a second card in to use the second slot
i never workt with a 412 or a dual T1 before so i do not now if it works the same

I'm adding a question to the existing questions here because I am having issues with a Dual PRI card in a 412.

The 412 is running 3.1.65. In slot A, I have the Dual PRI card, in slot B, I have a single T1 card. I have two PRI's going into the Dual card, the single T1 card is not being used at this time, so there is nothing plugged into it.

Does anyone have anything on how these are supposed to be set up?

On the provider side and on my side it says that the PRI's are up, but I can't make calls across it. I know I am probably missing something in the setup....

The installion manual from Avaya in regards to Dual-Pri cards specifically states to use Slot A.

Yeah, don't believe everything you read. haha

I have a dual PRI card installed in a 412 slot B working perfectly. Slot A is empty.

Guys from Avaya are here (3+ hours so far). Totally baffled them too. We're waiting for Verizon to call back from their CO to further test. It seems like some type of handshaking thing to me, but I really have no clue.

I'll post back when I do know something definative.

We have much of the same here: IP412; v3.165; Dual PRI both in use and about 3/4 times we need to reboot... whether rebooting immediately or when free the IPO loops on boot and has to be powered off manually by unplugging to be reset. The T1 cards go into alarm and need to be unplugged for a few seconds to reset. I have also spoken with local Avaya support and was told it happens for them as well. I haven't received any definitive solution or an acknowledgement of a known bug. I am hopeful that v3.2 upgrade would address this but also am apprehensive to apply it until v3.2 has been out there a while longer. As we are in the middle of implementing fax server integration, this bug if that's what it is... is quite unnerving. I would appreciate seeing it the resolutionto this issue if anybody gets it.

Interesting. We are supposed to have a tech out today to replace the dual T1 card today. I don't think it will have any effect on the problem, but it's worth a try. I'll repost once I know more.

The tech finally made it out here and swapped the card. No change. This is one of those years that I feel a career path change would be good.

tmckeown - please keep us posted on this - there's some long-suffering techs out here with the same problem. I'm about to disable the internal CSUs and install external CSUs but I'll hold off another week or so until you repost.

I have IPO 412 3.2(56) with the same issue.

412 unit was dropping the PRI
Techs came out to replace the dual PRI card with 2 singles
b/c they didnt have duals in stock.
6 hours later system was still down, had to put the old dual back in.
They replaced the 412 with a new one and a new dual PRI card.
Phone system reboots once a month with TLB error and the 2nd PRI (AT&T) doesn't always come up.
