Running Windows 7 Pro 64-bit. I have a Nvidia Quadro FX1800 video card. The card has one DVI and two HDMI connections. I have two different HANNS-G lcd monitors plugged in. One is a Hi221D on the DVI and the other is a HG216D on HDMI. I can't get the HG216D to operate at 1680x1050 while on HDMI. If I plug it in on DVI, it works great. I need this one to work on HDMI because the Hi221D doesn't have a HDMI connection.

Any ideas as to why this won't work?

Well, I don't think it has HDMI, Everything I can find says it has 2 Display Port, and 1 DVI-I and as long as the displays are digital any of 2 out of the 3 ports are active. Try the latest video driver from nvidia? Also check here as the HG216D is HDMI, so I suspect you have a DP++ port which is dual mode, and can supply HDMI or DVI-D signals, but it needs a passive conversion through an external connector. You also don't mention the maker of the nvidia card, PNY is the only card I could find.

It's a PNY. I installed the latest driver but that didn't help. I'm sure this was working before and the user claims it was working as well. I can think of nothing that would have changed - and the user doesn't have admin rights to the workstation so not much of importance could have been changed. No Windows updates or anything have been applied. The cable is HDMI to display port. It'll be a few days before I get another look at it.

mufka,
I had a similar problem with a monitor a while back and I read somewhere that said some monitors, when started in one mode, can get confused when switching over to another. The answer for me was to disconnect the monitor from the the computer and the power, leave it for a couple of minutes and reboot using the relevant lead. This surprisingly cured it for me.

Hope the same might work for you.

I had tried the refresh rate. I'll try the power thing.
