Is there a way to get a mailbox to play two seperate messages based on time of day, using embedded VM on MCD 4.
i.e Daytime - No Answer/Busy - "All our operators are busy"
Night - Forward to VM - "Our offices are now closed"

If possible we would like not to use two mailboxes, because of licenses an because the user will not want to log into two mailboxes when essentially its the same account. Unless I can foward from one mailbox to the other.

can you not use the primary greetings set via the admin mailbox????
login to admin mailbox

select option 4 - system greetings
select option 1 - primary greetings

Thats great for example the main line number. But what I need is for a users account to do it. If I'm more specific it might help.

They have a helpline which is a DDI that goes to a hunt group.
During the day it is assumed someone in the group will answer the call, if it goes unanswered or the users are all busy they will get the busy message and a message will be left in the mailbox.
During the night, the huntgroup will be diverted direct to voicemail and a out of hour message will be played, and a message will be left in the same mailbox.

there may be a way to achieve that but I dont know of any.
The only I can think of getting around this is to use temporary greetings, not ideal but it would work for what you are looking for:-

To create a temporary greeting:

1 Call the voice mail system and access your mailbox.
2 Press 8 for User Options.
3 Press 8 for Temporary Greeting.
4 Enter the number of days you want the greeting to play (from 01 to 99). (If you put in 1 day it deletes the message at Midnight)
5 If you have an existing temporary greeting, the system plays it back. Press to accept this greeting, to review it, or to re-record it (see step 6 below).
6 Record your greeting. To end the recording, press any key. The system plays back your greeting. Press to accept it, to review it, or to re-record it.

To disable and enable a temporary greeting:

After creating a temporary greeting, you can enable and disable it as required or let the system switch to your permanent greeting after a specified number of days.

1 Call the voice mail system and access your mailbox.
2 Press for User Options.
3 Press for Temporary Greetings.
4 When prompted to set the duration of the temporary greeting, press to disable an existing greeting or to re-enable the greeting. Or, enter the number of days (from 1 to 99) that you want the greeting to last before the system switches to your permanent greeting.

as said there may be another way but I just arent aware of it off the top of my head

Okay, thanks for the effort James.

Not by time of day, no.

Not 2 Greetings from the same mailbox, no.

You can play a different greeting (From 2 different Mb's)based on the Ringing mode of the PBX though. (Day, Night1/Night2)

Yes I was aware of spliting the message between mailboxes, however that leads me to a previous thread I've got that they don't want to have to keep logging into seperate mailboxes. They kicked up a fuss when we said we couldn't distribute voicemail automatically to many mailboxes, when their Index could.

If you front end with a Menu node and require the caller to press a digit to leave a message then you will have the ability to deliver separate greetings while maintaining 1 mailbox.

Hi
You could try having the mailbox just say " please leave your message after the tone". and have the day and night route through different "Fake " acd groups ( with no agents) so it loses the dtmf tones and use RADS in the two different groups to say your 2 different messages. Then have your mailbox as the path unavailable position in your 2 ACD paths.
Regards,
Brooke
