Dual-Homed NT system 1

I have a three node network at home (two Win 95 and one NT 4.0 SP 5) which is connected using a simple hub and RJ45 cabling. I recently acquired a cable modem and was wondering if it is possible to set my NT machine up as a Dual-Homed system. <br>
I want to be able to use one NIC and cabling to maintain connectivity to my home network while using the second NIC cabling to connect to the cable modem. The install tech was unable to set up the cable modem on my NT machine but I figured it out and have it working fine. However, I can not get the machine to recognize two distinct NIC cards. Currently I only have the one NIC for cable modem access enabled.<br>
Am I looking at an IRQ issue, MAC address issue, or is this just not possible? Thanks in advance for any suggestions.

Its a MAC address issue when you have more than 1 card installed. You need to make sure each NIC has a totally unique Ethernet ID from the other. Well, since MAC addresses are burned in at the factory in some 99.99% of cases, a duplicate is unlikely at best.

I can get both NICs installed and uniquely configured under the network settings. One NIC set for cable modem and one set up with dummy IP's for my home network. However, when I do an ipconfig /all , it only recognizes one card and when I try to connect to the cable modem it gives me a

Try reinstalling the second NIC into other slots- NT is pretty resistant to getting all your cards to work. Are you using Proxy Server? also try pinging each NIC address.<br>
