I'm trying to get my Sony Viao PCG-Z1AP laptop w/Mobility Radeon adapter (PCI bus 1) to drive 2 Samsung 193P flat panels side-by-side. The Sony mini-dock has a DVI-D and a monitor port. The 193Ps can be driven either digitally or in analog. The ATI device settings allowed me to load both digital and analog drivers for the 193Ps, but I couldn't get either screen to display until I disconnected the analog cable at the dock's monitor port. The ATI device settings show 3 devices: monitor, screen, and flat-panel display (FPD), but for some reason I can't get the monitor to activate. Any thoughts?

I have now gotten the monitor port to drive one of the 193Ps in manual mode as if it was a monitor, and the ATI device setting shows the monitor and the screen active, but now the FPD is inactive. It looks like the RADEON will either not drive dual 193s with one as a digital FPD and the other an analog monitor, or that it won't do both and mantain the laptop screen. I could care less about the laptop screen when the laptop is in the docking station, so I'm game for turning it off, so long as I can turn it back on for travel ...

Thoughts?

Thanks in advance.

Multiple display configurations is something that is constantly being changed between driver revisions, as a proof that this isn't an easy one to handle automatically. Try to update your machine with the last graphics drivers available and your problem may vanish (or morph into a different symptom). Read the release notes of the driver updates too. Your issue may be listed as solved, or unsolved yet bug.
