Hi!
On my machine both xp and win7 worked ok.
Than I got a virus on xp.
The only way I to get rid of virus was reinstall xp.
After that dual boot was gone....
I managed (using install cd of win7) to get win 7 back to work.
But still th edual boot option is gone.
XP and win7 are of course on different partions (remeber: it worked until I met th evirus).

I slightly rememeber the boor option comes from a little file which let you choose.
Am I right?
So how to?

TIA

In XP yes, but in 7 not anymore, well not directly any way.

Assuming all your attempts did not delete XP's boot.ini in the process, you may be able to get it back, using an APP called EasyBCD. Google for it, download it and run it. It is easy to use and should let you reset your dual boot option.

If you did hose down XP's boot files, you'll need to recreate them, by performing a repair install using the XP install media.

Then you'll need to use Windows 7 CD to repair its boot loader again. With the XP Boot files available it should pick it up, and create the boot loader for you.

This is a handy program to use when having Boot problems in Vista or Windows 7, dual booting with XP. It can be run from any of the three operating systems and may correct the booting problem.

Any reason why you don't just use XP mode in Win7.

Don't know the OP's situation, but everything doesn't work perfectly in a virtual machine. Also, if you're needing to troubleshoot, you won't know the full scope of something in a diff OS.
