Have two 40 gig harddrives, one with 2000 PRO OS and XP on the other, will running a program thats on the 2000 HD in XP work? Any thing to watch for, just want to check out XP before giving up 2000.

You probably will be able to run any programs from the Win2K HD on your WinXP HD; however, in order to do so, you'll probably have to re-install the programs (and any patches) from within WinXP. The reason for this is that the registry in WinXP needs to have the settings required for the programs to operate. Simply starting the .exe from the Win2K HD from within WinXP will most likely result in errors and could potentially corrupt either your WinXP system or your Win2K programs.

The best thing to do is simply re-install the programs into your WinXP HD. Keep in mind, though, that some Win2K programs may not work under WinXP (and vice-versa).

thank you nywin2k for your reply, will keep that in mind.
