Is anyone familiar with running Aloha Table Service and Aloha Quick service both on one BOH, and sharing EDC? Are there any gotchas? or helpful hints?

Thanks, Rich

Yes it is possible by first creating two separate root dirs (ex: AlohaTS & AlohaQS). Then point each system to the correct dir.

As for the sharing of the EDC, it also can be done but I'm a bit hazy on this one. Sorry

Then, after serious thought....why would you really want to share both systems on a single BOH? This could be potentially hazardous as it is not smart to put all of your eggs in one basket. At the current cost of a BOH machine a systemwide failure would potentially cost you more than the bloody machine. But that's just my take on it !!!

First off to share QS and TS on the same fileserver you must have be licensed for both on the same key numbers. This is obviously not a standard key setup but is possible and I have done this many times. The EDC install is not tough but unless you are licensed for QS AND TS it doesn't really matter... If you were looking for 2 TS or 2 QS on the same key the only limitation is that the total number of terminals combined for all instances cannot exceed the total number of terminals you are licensed for.

yes, both versions are licensed, and I will assume the key is correct for the sake of argument. This customer has a large restaurant, and then a seperate fast food business downstairs. I will be tasked with hardware support, but wanted to know how this dual setup would differ from a standard setup...

As far as I know this is the first time we have tried this arrangement, but the customer is part of a chain that has this arrangement in other locations.

So basically, the table service side will point to it's own directory, and the quick service will point to it's own directory, and EDC will be fine.

I see and agree with the notion of all the eggs in one basket, but would separate BOH require 2 EDC setups? (I wasn't in on the decision, sale, or consultation, just get to maintain it...)

Does this scenario require a windows server version on BOH? or is XP Pro sufficient? they have XP Pro, but I can tell the support guy is not happy with something.

They are running 4 video screens as well. (KIWI)

I can email you two documents on setting this up but not sure how to do it from here and I know most would prefer not to put their email addresses out. If you are still interested in doing this though let me know.
