I have recently purchased a new computer with Windows ME already installed. I want to keep ME on the computer for games and other purposes. However I want to install 2000 Server in another partition in order to create a dual boot configuration. What's the best way to create this new partition, doing an FDisk or within 2000 Server set up?

Thanks

As long as you have unpartitioned space to use just use the Win 2000 setup program to do this. Start ME, insert the CD, say no to the upgrade (or okay if you get the error message saying you cannot upgrade from ME to 2K Server) and then click on install. Be sure to select the option under advanced that allows you to select which partition you want to install to and away you go.

I read your earlier question in Win Me/2000 Server dual boot - I am in exactly the same position and was wondering how successful your installation was. Did you encounter any "gotcha"s?
Many thanks for any words of wisdom you can impart.
Regards,
Leth

I run the same setup at home with no problems. However I use 2 seperate drives for each OS.
