Hello,
I am always getting an error when I open a package. There is no error number.
Eventhough I get this error I can still make packages except that there are no tasks available so I can just make connections and workflow.
I have tried reinstalling the server and have put in sp1 but nothing seems to work.
Please can someone help me.
Lilja

I would try pasting your error message (or whatever you are getting) into a search of the MS knowledge base, see if you get a hit. You might also search the KB with keywords like 'error opening DTS packege', something like that.

lilja,

Did you reinstall the Server or the client tools? Is the error occurring on the Server itself or on your client? Can you tell us what the error message is? Did you have any luck finding the error in the Microsoft Knowledgebase as suggested by bperry? Terry L. Broadbent - DBA

Hi,
There is no error message. I just get a message box that says 'DTS Designer Error
|||||'
and nothing else. I have tried reinstalling both the client tools and the server.
The error comes when I open a dts package and when I try to make a new one.
I couldn´t find anything about it in the kb.

Are you running the DTS Designer on the server or a workstation? If on a workstation, are you running the same version and service pack on client and server? Which SQL version are you running - 7 or 2000? Terry L. Broadbent - DBA

I found out what the error was, I had the file comcat.dll on my computer, but in the wrong version. It all had something to do with activeX controls and security.
Thanks for the help,
Lilja

Hey lilja -

I'm having the same issue with DTS Designer as you were having. I am the same version of comcat.dll as my co-worker and he can access DTS just fine. How did you go about correcting the error?

Thanks!
