I am trying to add an environment variable for my CDE environment. I login as root and at the bottom of /.dtprofile I add "TESTVAR="test-var".

However, when I logout and login again it's not defined.

Any ideas why?

Also is this the proper place to add these (I'm trying to add NS40_CONFIG_PATH for netscape server.

I also tried adding it to /etc/dt/config/Xconfig:

"Dtlogin*environment: TESTVAR=test"

it still doesn't work. According to:

Hi

Have you add "TESTVAR="test-var" or TESTVAR="test-var"
I prefer to add the Variables in .profile an put on the last Line in .dtconfig the Entry dtsourceprofile=true

I added TESTVAR="test-var"

It seems to be working now, but only after a reboot. I thought the .dtprofile should be read if logout from CDE and login again, but it seems not

I've seen some funnies like this with CDE. You can normally get it to refresh without rebooting by clicking options / restart? or is it refresh on the login welcome panel.
